As part of the TRAINING FOR ADULT INCLUSION IN THE THIRD SECTOR course (created within the framework of the Erasmus Plus project “VIRTUAL LIFELONG LEARNING CENTERS E2.0C” and implemented at the Benita Gil E2.0C virtual center, created thanks to the same project), four students had the opportunity to complete a one-month paid internship at the NGO Lesvos Solidarity (Greece) and at Transform! Europe (Austria), where they put into practice the training acquired during the course.

Depending on one’s perspective, a month can be a short or long period of time. For the interns, this period of time has been very significant, as they have had the opportunity to participate in projects run by the hosting entities.

To understand the reality of the hosting entity and its functioning, they have not only put into practice all the content learned in the COURSE FOR THE INCLUSION OF ADULTS IN THE THIRD SECTOR at the virtual center E2.0C Benita Gil, but they have also explored the different departments, learning from each one about their processes, how they manage the wide and different realities they encounter in their daily tasks, and intra and interdepartmental coordination.

  • Advocacy: They delved deeper into the advocacy department through an online chat with the head, who helped them better understand the island’s context, the reasons for the migratory flow, and the various laws, treaties, and social responses that have been generated, as well as those currently being promoted.
  • Administration and Finance: They were explained the ISO standards that govern processes such as contracting and what they entail, as well as the key aspects required for internal financial control and how to organize them.
  • Logistics: They appreciated its importance and the need to have a system to record incidents that arise in any of their projects and resolve them as efficiently as possible.
  • Coordination: They saw that project coordination is undoubtedly an essential activity for an organization to remain strong and cover its work effectively. It is responsible for creating reports, project monitoring, and interdepartmental coordination.
  • Education: Within this area, they attended Greek, English, and computer classes and witnessed the importance of providing beneficiaries with tools that promote their inclusion on the island.
